FFXIV RP Guidelines: Character Alibis

If characters have responsibilities but their players are not available to RP, what are the characters doing?

List at least one answer for each of the three scenarios.

Explanations:

If the character definitely is there, but the player is not:

This means that the character is most certainly there because they have to be, but you the player are not available. For example, if everyone was imprisoned in the previous “event RP”, but you couldn’t join the follow-up RP session.

  • Describe what you want done or said about the situation, or
  • If you want others to play your character, how you would want them to play your character in your stead?

If the character said in previous RP that they would be there, but the character just isn’t there:

What would your character most-likely be doing that would make them absent?

If you are not available out-of-character to tell the RPers what your character is doing, the RPers would choose any one of the things you list here as the canonical choice for what your character said they were doing.

Any other time the character isn’t there:

If your character is just casually absent, what would your character most-likely be doing?

If you are not available out-of-character to tell the RPers what your character is doing, the RPers would choose any one of the things you list here as the canonical choice for what your character said they were doing.

Tagalong Orphie Mode. Just have whoever is watching Orph play him. Play him as quiet and dependent; because when he is active or makes decisions, I want to choose his actions myself.

Either:

  • He can be at home cleaning, cooking, or other kinds of work, or practicing music
  • He can be dropped off at the Quicksand Inn

“You would at least not entrust RPing your character to anyone else, right?”

“It’s not even a matter of that, on the whole. I wouldn’t, but that’s not the concern. The concern is, I wouldn’t want them to continue without me anyway. I wouldn’t care if I was apprised later, I wouldn’t care if it made sense to, I would care I wasn’t there when they carried on. XD”
